One of the critical skills needed for all players and teams to be as successful as they can is solid passing. As a team and as a coach, having practiced a solid set of inbound plays that are ingrained in the players, can be the difference in the outcome to any game.
In this video,Omaha’s Chris Crutchfield, the 2025 Summit League Coach of the Year, opens the door to a live action practice session where you will see his team working to advance their passing acumen and become familiar and highly successful at performing inbounds plays to perfection! In this outstanding “Open Practice”, you will see:

Passing Drills
Throughout the video you will learn many passing drills and see games that emphasize the pass; these include warm-up drills to get players talking as well as full and half court drills. Many of the drills have a time and a goal attached to keep players focused and competitive.
The three-man weave drills and the Overhead and Baseball drill make players get a certain number of perfect passes to complete the drill before moving on. Other drills include fast break and secondary break drills where you can pick up new sets and actions.
Half-Court Offense and Half-Court Baseline Plays
Throughout the video you will also get numerous baseline out of bounds plays as well as some half court offensive actions. Coach Crutchfield runs multiple drills to get his players going live against a defense to understand the reads available to them. You will get:

Omaha’s Chris Crutchfield leads his team in a spirited practice focused on shooting and scoring. With an emphasis on game-speed execution, Crutchfield directs his players in both live 5-on-5 games as well as several game-action drills.
The players start with a competitive 2-team drill emphasizing perimeter shooting and passing. By introducing a competitive scoring system, Crutchfield demonstrates how to increase the intensity level among players in this standard move-and-shoot drill.
Throughout the video, players work on actions that mimic the two-man actions that occur in the game and that are featured in the team’s offensive sets. Most drills feature both players getting shots out of cutting and pick-and-roll actions.
Some of the key shooting and scoring concepts that Coach Crutchfield goes over include:
- Post-up finishing and shooting from both the high and low post for bigs
- Screening and DHO actions involving bigs and guards
- Attack and scoring opportunities in transition
By interspersing 5-on-5 special situation and ODO (Offense-Defense-Offense) scrimmaging, Coach Crutchfield emphasizes the importance of practicing at game-speed so that players are consistently putting out a high-intensity effort to improve their shooting and scoring.
