Throughout their careers, many players tend to want to work on skills that they are already good at. Getting athletes to train their weaknesses is a challenge all coaches face.

NBA Player Development veteran Mike Procopio shares13 weak hand training drills and 11 floater drills with you that he uses to develop players. You will see how to train fundamental movements like the bank shot and the Euro step using a player's weak hand. You'll also learn how an underdeveloped shot like the floater can become part of a player's offensive arsenal with only a few short drills.

Weak Hand Training

Coach Procopio shows you how to get athletes to attack on the offensive end of the floor using their weak hand from all angles of the court. He shares how to develop a player's push shot, how to develop an inside hand reverse, four types of hook shots, and how to use the Mikan drill solely for weak hand development. Many coaches will try to break down the mechanics of ever shot, but Procopio's approach is to get reps in and allow the body to figure out the techniques necessary for success.

Floater Development

Floaters can help small players get their shot off and provide other players a more effective way to score. You will see 11 floater drills to help teach the mechanics of the floater, including trajectory, release point and balance. Coach Procopio covers:

  • How to shoot a floater straight on
  • How to shoot the floater from the corner
  • How players can add a dribble(s) to their floater
  • How to use the "snake" move to get a floater off
  • Using the drills in this video, you will get multiple repetitions for players to develop their floater and weak hand. Coach Procopio has produced a necessity for any coach looking to develop complete basketball players.
