Known as a detail-oriented, teaching coach who came up through the ranks, Rob Jeter takes you inside one of his team’s in-season practices as he prepares for his next opponent.

This Open Practice coaching video takes you through various scenarios based on opponent specific data, along with helpful information for identifying your own team’s weaknesses as you prepare for your next contest.

Coach Jeter leaves no stone unturned in this instructional coaching basketball video that is sure to help you build your team practices, as well as provides plenty of food-for-thought as it pertains to your own game-preparation practices and how to approach them a bit differently.

Scout Team, Player Development

Coach Jeter begins by breaking down his upcoming opponent by explaining their main offensive actions to defend. This segment is different from anything you have seen before; it will prove to be extremely valuable information to you as Jeter shares a proven method for how to break down your opponent – both by actions and by play specifics.

Coach Jeter looks at his opponent scouting report and also builds in self-scout information to develop the best possible match-up game plan. As Jeter explores the weaknesses that have occurred with his own team’s defense against their previous opponents, you’ll watch how he uses that knowledge to build a realistic action plan that will be effective against their upcoming opponent.

Coach Jeter moves into another practice segment that utilizes competitive 5-on-5 situations to continue to walk through defensive techniques versus specific actions and tests playing it live.

In the next segment, Jeter takes you through player development scenarios that break down guard play and post play, while moving into a 3-on-3 drill that focuses on defending flex screens and down screens.

Continuing throughout the practice, Coach Jeter dives deep into some 1-on-1 technique to help build man-to-man principles on the ball, while focusing on the main drives that his upcoming opponent most commonly executes.

Transition

You will also enjoy watching Coach Jeter run a highly valuable portion of practice - multiple transition drills - that help to build and improve your team’s transition ability – both offensively and defensively. This section involves his favorite 3-player, 6-player and 10-player transition drills.

If you are looking to find methods to help prepare your team better for your upcoming opponents and discover better action plans for defending specific opponents, then this is the video for you.

Coach Jeter does a phenomenal job on team scouting and preparation along with various development drills for players and team transition.
