Up-Tempo Sets, Maximizing Ball Screens
Next up, is an informative presentation on how to unleash your team’s playmakers with ball screens in drag, dribble-drag, and double-drag actions. Coach Weber covers multiple wrinkles off these main actions and shows how these plays further confuse defenders by changing things up by utilizing handoffs and a variety of cuts.
Coach Weber follows up with several proven techniques that cause headaches for defenses by using multiple screening actions and highlights four explosive options from the ‘21 Series.’ He then shows how you can activate your weak-side offensive players by executing a wide pin-down screen and showcases five different plays from the ‘Quick Series’ that takes advantage of these actions. Weber also shows how ‘Quick’ can be used as an effective tactic for getting an early look for an elite shooter.
Any great offense must also possess the ability to execute in the half court as well. Coach Weber offers an inside look at 17 set plays that can be used any time the possession is slowed down including three different ways to space the floor for ball screens.
The ‘Angle Series’ alone offers four different options for attacking defenses with an empty corner ball screen, as well as six plays from the ‘2-Down Series’ that integrates multiple screening options for post ups or shooters.
Coach Weber also shows a variety of options from the Horns alignment with five additional calls in the ‘Elbow Series.’ These plays are ideal for transforming your post players into a playmaker while occupying nearby teammates in actions such as flex screens, pin-down screens, and staggered screens.
This video is jam-packed with terrific plays and strategic coaching information that can be easily merged into your own fast-break or secondary break systems, as well as your half-court attack.
